Welcome back to Why SunCoast? What Makes Us Different, our series on the unique qualities of SunCoast as a home builder in Coastal North Carolina. Today, we’re highlighting three critical components of home building—plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems—and the special approach we bring to each in our custom homes.
In home construction, licensed trades are essential to ensuring quality and safety. Licensed professionals, whether plumbers, electricians, or HVAC specialists, are held to strict standards and typically build long-standing relationships within the community. Their focus on reputation aligns with our values at SunCoast; we work only with dedicated, reputable partners whose work quality matches our own standards. With a plumbing license ourselves, we understand the intricacies of this trade, but we entrust our licensed experts with this and other licensed trades because they bring skill and creativity that enriches every custom home we build.
Insulation, while not typically a problem, plays a key role in the efficiency and comfort of your home. Drywall, on the other hand, requires particular skill to look seamless and perfect. We at SunCoast hold our drywall professionals to the highest standards. Although perfection is difficult, we work closely with them to ensure smooth, clean finishes that lay the foundation for all the beautiful touches that follow.
Interior finishes are what truly bring character to your custom home. SunCoast works with a team of preferred vendors who provide an extensive array of finishes for:
We streamline this process by using software called CoConstruct to maintain a file for every home build, where you’ll find contacts for our preferred vendors, plans for lighting, cabinetry, and overall layout, and allowances for each item. Our vendors work directly with you to provide the best advice on products and design to meet your needs, and they handle orders, storage, delivery, and replacement of any items as necessary. For things that don’t require a vendor, you can make and save your selections within the software.
Painting is another straightforward yet crucial step in your home’s finishing. Simply select your paint colors and locations and save them in your CoConstruct file, and our painters will take care of the rest. A useful tip from our painters: If you’re aiming for a bright white look, avoid a stark, pure white, as it often lacks coverage. Opt for a softer white instead to ensure a smooth, even finish.
At SunCoast, we aim to complete your custom home so thoroughly that post-move-in punch list items are minimal to none. Once we’ve passed the final building inspection and obtained the Certificate of Occupancy, we do a walkthrough with you to identify any last details that need attention. We then take 10 days to complete any necessary touch-ups. After final payments, you’ll be ready to move in with confidence, knowing you’re settling into a home built with care and meticulous attention to detail.
As we’ve explored in previous articles, SunCoast Homes is committed to delivering the highest quality craftsmanship in every aspect of homebuilding—from the foundation to the roof. We are committed to making sure the smallest detail is perfect.
